Olesya Petrova

mezzo-soprano, soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theatre opera

Olesya Petrova graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory in 2008 in the class of People’s Artist of the USSR Irina Bogacheva. While still studying, the singer became a soloist at the Conservatory Opera and Ballet Theatre.
Olesya Petrova has been a guest soloist at the Mikhailovsky Theatre since 2012, and in 2016 she officially joined the opera troupe. “Great”, “inimitable”, “delightful” — these epithets invariably accompany the singer’s name in the press. The critics write: “a mezzo-soprano of enormous strength and stunning dark colouring,” “a voice of enormous range, extraordinary beauty — and limitless expressive possibilities.”
The artist performs on the best stages in the world, including the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre, NOVAT, the Zurich Opera House, the Bangkok Opera, the National Theatre of Greece, the Metropolitan Opera, The Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Montreal Opera, the Verdi Theatre in Trieste, Sydney Opera House and many others.
Olesya Petrova collaborates with concert halls, symphony and chamber orchestras. The singer’s concert repertoire includes music by J.-S. Bach, G. Pergolesi, W.-A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven, G. Verdi, H. Berlioz, R. Wagner, G. Mahler, S. S. Prokofiev.
