Theatre regulations

Dear viewers!

We ask you to read the Theatre attendance policy in accordance with the «Standard for the operational safety management and safe access of visitors to buildings, facilities, structures (premises in them) of the St. Petersburg State Funded Cultural Institution the St. Petersburg M.P. Mussorgsky State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre — Mikhailovsky Theatre aimed at carrying out preventive measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in St. Petersburg».

  • Visiting the theatre is only possible with a ticket, regardless of the age of the viewer. Viewers are required to occupy the seats indicated on the ticket.
  • In case of loss (damage) of the ticket, visiting the Theatre is impossible.
  • Children aged 5 years and older have the right to attend evening performances/concerts accompanied by adults.
  • When purchasing a ticket, the viewer agrees to follow the age recommendations and instructions on the ticket and poster. The theatre is not responsible for the viewer’s violation of these recommendations.
  • It is prohibited to bring the following items into the theatre: firearms, their main parts and ammunition, cold weapons, throwing weapons, pneumatic, gas and signal weapons, as well as cartridges for them, pepper guns, stun guns, pointed or bladed weapons and other items that may be used as a weapon to inflict injuries; flammable, explosive, poisonous, odorous and radioactive substances, bladed articles, pyrotechnic devices, laser flashlights; alcoholic beverages, narcotic and psychotropic substances; opaque thermoses, suitcases, large packages and bags, sharp objects, as well as self-defence tools.
  • Upon entering the theatre, the viewers must undergo special control through inspection areas, including stationary metal detector frames and personal search points, in order to detect prohibited items.
  • Audio and video recording is carried out in the theatre premises to ensure the safety of the viewers and improve the quality of service.
  • During theatre events photo and video recording of the theatre event can be performed. When attending a theatre event, the viewer should be aware that his image may be obtained during photo and video recording of the event in accordance with Art. 152.1 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, the publication and further use of a citizen’s image (including his photograph, as well as video recordings in which he is depicted) is allowed without the consent of the citizen, if the citizen’s image was obtained during the recording, which is carried out in public places or at public events, including concerts, theatre performances and similar events.
  • Spectators must hand over outerwear, hats, bags, backpacks, umbrellas, flowers, balloons to the cloakroom.
  • When visiting the Tsar’s Box, you must comply with the rules of the theatre dress code: evening or cocktail dresses, dinner jackets or business suits. If the rules are not followed, the theatre administration has the right to deny access.
  • The start time of the event is indicated on the ticket. The hall is open to spectators 30 minutes before the start of the event.
  • Entry into the stalls and ground floor boxes is prohibited after the third bell.
  • If you are late, you should take the seat offered by the administrator or watch the live broadcast of the event in the theatre buffet; you can take the seat indicated on the ticket during intermission.
  • Event start times are shown on tickets. In the Theatre it is forbidden:
    - to enter the hall in outerwear, with food and drinks;
    - to use photo, video and audio equipment during a public performance of a play/concert;
    - to visit the theatre with animals.
  • Viewers are required to turn off their mobile phones during the event.
  • Viewers are obliged to treat the Theatre property with care and comply with order and fire safety rules. In case of an emergency and alarm signal, viewers must follow the instructions of the Theatre employees.
  • Viewers should behave correctly towards others, not provoke conflicts and not disturb other guests at the Theatre.
  • Viewers in a state of alcoholic intoxication are not allowed to attend events.
  • An hour before the event, tickets are sold at the theatre box office mainly for the current event.
  • Tickets for the ground floor boxes and dress circle boxes are sold in the following order: dress circle boxes are sold only in full, 4 seats each, ground floor boxes and lettered boxes are sold in pairs (two seats one after another: 1, 3 and 2, 4). Tickets are also accepted for return in sets.
  • Electronic tickets cannot be exchanged for printed tickets.
  • On the day of the event, if tickets are available at the theatre box office, there is a 50% discount for students, pensioners and people with disabilities (upon presentation of an ISIC card, student card, pension card, or other relevant identification).
  • Do not bring the flowers onto the stage at performances of the current repertoire: the flowers are passed to the performers in the dressing rooms. Flowers may be brought to the stage in exceptional cases, in agreement with the management. If you want to give flowers to an artist, notify the administrator before the performance and leave a bouquet for him/her. The administrator will ask you to fill out a card on which you indicate who the bouquet is intended for. You can also present flowers to the artists in person after the performance at the service entrance.

When visiting the Theatre, you must observe the following rules of personal and public hygiene during your entire stay on the territory of the theatre:

Entry to the Theatre with a body temperature above 37.1°C and (or) with symptoms of an acute respiratory viral disease (cough, runny nose, weakness) is prohibited. In such cases, we recommend that you contact a medical facility for diagnosis and medical care with appropriate precautions. Thermal imagers are installed at the entrance to the Theatre to measure body temperature.

Visitors must wear respirators or disposable masks indoors only if appropriate requirements are introduced by Decree of the Government of St. Petersburg dated March 13, 2020 No. 121 “On measures to counter the spread of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in St. Petersburg.”

We recommend avoiding cash payments and using contactless payment methods for ticket purchase.
