The Mikhailovsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra conducted by Timur Zangiev will present an elegant concert program on the stage of the Great Hall of the Philharmonic.

The concert by Jean Sibelius has become a true hymn to the violin: it combines virtuosity with heartfelt melodies and expressive violin solos with outstanding orchestral episodes. When composing the concert, Sibelius wanted to show what the violin is capable of — both as a virtuoso instrument and as the voice of the human soul. The soloist in the concert is the concertmaster of the Mikhailovsky Theatre Orchestra, Honoured Artist of Russia Olga Volkova — a brilliant violinist who seems to have no limits.

“An Episode from the Life of an Artist, a Fantastic Symphony in Five Parts” — this is the full title of the famous work by Hector Berlioz. It tells the story of the composer himself and his passionate love for the actress Henrietta Smithson. Striving to achieve resounding success and impress the proud Irishwoman, Berlioz created an innovative work, opening up new paths for symphonic music.

The concert is conducted by the chief guest conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theatre, the star of the Salzburg Festival Timur Zangiev.
