Daria Mitrofanova
Daria Mitrofanova, a translator, coach in Italian and French, and language consultant, graduated cum laude from the Italian Department of the St Petersburg State University in 1996. In 1998–2008, she was the Italian language coach at the St Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire. Nowadays, she is an associate professor of the Vocal Department of the Herzen Pedagogical University in St Petersburg. She is also the Italian language coach with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Opera Singers and a consultant in Italian and French with the Zazerkalie Theatre. She has published several articles on giving lessons of the Italian language to vocalists, vocal phonetics, and translating of librettos. She is the author of the books Vocal Phonetics. Italian in Singing and Vocal Phonetics. French in Singing, co-authored by O. Ovsyannikova. She cooperates with the Obraztsova Center in St Petersburg and the Obraztsova Foundation in Moscow, Russian National Orchestra, and different Russian musical theatres.
Since 2007, she has worked as a translator and consultant in the French and Italian languages at the Mikhailovsky Theatre. As a language consultant, she has contributed to the productions of Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana, Leonkavallo’s Pagliacci, Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera, Puccini’s Tosca, Verdi’s La traviata, Halévy La Juive, as well as to the concert performances of Bizet’s Carmen, Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, and Mozart Don Giovanni. As a consultant, she also contributes to the concerts in the foyer of the dress circle of the Mikhailovsky Theatre and at the Hermitage Theatre.
