Andriy Zholdak

Andriy Zholdak studied and trained as theatre director at Anatolii Vasyliev’s studio in Moscow. He has a longstanding interest in cinematography (Fellini, Bergman, Parajanov, Tarkovsky) and pictorial art; these arts had had a significant impact upon his style as a director.

His performances were presented in more than 30 countries of Europe, Asia and America including those staged in the framework of prestigious festivals. Many of his performances were recognized at various theatre competitions: Anna Karenina in Finland, Metamorphose in Germany, opera Eugene Onegin in Russia, Othello?! in Romania, Elektra in Macedonia, and others. From 2004, he has lived and resided in Berlin permanently and has cooperated with the leading theatres of Germany, Russia, Romania, Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Switzerland, etc. He has also developed his concepts of theatre theory: „Universal Artist“ and „Quantum Theatre of the Future.“ Andriy Zholdak regularly holds lectures on theory of theatre and practical workshops in the UK, Holland, Spain, Germany, Finland, France, Japan, Brazil, and Russia.
