The Mikhailovsky Theatre’s production of The Tsar’s Bride is to be shown in cinemas. The production, which was nominated for the national theatre awards in three categories, will be performed on the Bolshoi Theatre’s New Stage on 17 March. The performance will be broadcast live from Moscow to 35 Russian cities.

In a nationwide project instigated by the Golden Mask Festival, Russian cinemas will screen live performances of productions that have been nominated for the national theatrical award. One of these is the Mikhailovsky Theatre’s production of The Tsar’s Bride, which has been nominated for a Golden Mask in three categories, including Best Opera Production.

Kristina Kretova, Leading Soloist at the Bolshoi Theatre, will dance the role of Kitri in Don Quixote on 19 and 22 February. Ivan Vasiliev will perform alongside her in the role of Basilio.

Gioachino Rossini’s opera buffa Il barbiere di Siviglia is to be performed three times at the Mikhailovsky Theatre — on 12 and 13 March, and 2 April. Mikhail Tatarnikov will assume the role of Musical Director and Conductor.

On 12, 13 and 15 February the Mikhailovsky Theatre will play host to La Bayadère. The part of Nikiya will be danced by Ekaterina Borchenko and Polina Semionova, as well as Angelina Vorontsova, who will be performing the role for the first time.
