“He must surely be demented, who would marry when he’s old, Soon his folly is repented and his passion soon grows cold.” It is with these words that the curtain comes down on the series of comical mishaps which constitute the plot of Gaetano Donizetti’s wonderful work. The famous opera buffa will continue the series of concert performances of some of the world’s musical masterpieces. There are four main characters in the opera, and in order to convey the beauty and character of the solos and chorus pieces, four outstanding voices are needed: bass, baritone, tenor, and soprano. There could be no better challenge for the talented young singers in our company.
