Alexander Omar

soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theatre

Alexander Omar graduated from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet in 2004 and was immediately invited to the troupe of the Mikhailovsky Theatre. The press notes that the artist “has the ability to attract the audience’s attention with the precision of his poses and gestures, and his bright individual plastic intonation.”
In 2018, Alexander Omar staged the one-act ballet “Carousel” on the stage of the Hermitage Theatre. In January 2023, the premiere of the operetta “The Bat” took place at the Mikhailovsky Theatre, staged by Alexander Omar as a choreographer.
In March of the same year, he was entrusted with the restoration of the ballet “Corsair” in Nikita Dolgushin’s version, and already in October the premiere of Alexander Omar’s first major performance took place — the three-act ballet “Limpid Stream” to the music of Dmitry Shostakovich. Critics note the amazing sense of the era, ingenuity and wit of the choreographer. His next work was staging dances in the opera “The Lady of the Camellias” to the music of Giuseppe Verdi, which premiered in February 2024.
