Valentina Nafornita
Valentina Nafornita studied at the Ștefan Neaga Music College in Chișinău and at the Bucharest University of Music.
Before working as a freelance singer with engagements at La Scala in Milan, the Berlin State Opera, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, as well as in Amsterdam, Edinburgh, and China, Valentina Nafornita was a soloist of the Vienna State Opera where she sang Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Oscar in Verdi’s Un ball in maschera, Musetta in Puccini’s La bohème, Marzelline in Beethoven’s Fidelio, and Norina in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale.
In season 2016/2017, she performed Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore in Hamburg. In the same season, she appeared at the Rome Opera Theatre as Musetta and had a debut at the Champs Elysée Theatre in Paris as Sophie in Massenet’s Werther, with Juan Diego Flórez in the title role and Joyce DiDonato as Charlotte. The singer continues to be a permanent guest at the Vienna State Opera, where she opened the famous Opera Ball in 2013 and 2018. In season 2018/2019 she had two more important and very successful role debuts: Fiordiligi in a new production of Mozart’s Così fan tutte in Lausanne and Ilia in Mozart’s Idomeneo at the Vienna State Opera. Valentina Nafornita also appeared on the Anniversary Concert of the Vienna Opera in May 2019.
