Tatiana Melnychenko

Tatiana Melnychenko began her artistic career in the Odessa Opera Theatre. In 2000, the Spanish tenor Alfredo Kraus chose her for the singing department of the Queen Sofia School of Music in Madrid where she completed her training with renowned mezzo-soprano Teresa Berganza.

The soprano has appeared at many important venues and concert halls in Europe: Konzerthaus in Berlin, Konzerthaus in Dortmund, Tonhalle in Dusseldorf, National Auditorium of Music and Carlos III Royal Coliseum Theatre in Madrid, Music Palace in Barcelona, Prague Opera, Flagey Concert Hall in Brussels, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Palace of Festivals in Santander, Philharmonic Hall in Odessa, as well as at the concert halls in Cologne, Essen, Segovia, Pamplona and Palma de Mallorca. Tatiana Melnychenko has taken part on two occasions in the Lyrical Galas of R.T.V.E. with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Spanish Radio and Television in the Monumental Theatre in Madrid. In 2001, she took part in the April Spring Friendship Art Festival in Pyongyang and participated in Verdi’s Requiem with the Orchestra of Spanish Radio and Television under the baton of Adrian Leaper in the Baluarte Auditorium in Pamplona. In the following year, she was invited by the Symphonic Orchestra of Vallés to take part in the concert version of Beethoven’s Fidelio, performed at the Music Palace in Barcelona and in the Auditorium in Palma de Mallorca. During 2008, the soprano took on the role of Faustina Bordoni in the musical show Duelling Divas with music by George Frideric Handel, later she interpreted the role of Abigaille in Verdi’s Nabucco at the Principal Theatre of Alicante, Metropolitan Opera in New York, Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, Liceu Opera in Barcelona, Wallonia Opera in Liege, Arena di Verona (with Placido Domingo as Nabucco), Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv and Montreal Opera, as well as Lady Macbeth (Verdi’s Macbeth) in the new production of Klagenfurt State Theatre and at the Greek National Opera in Athens. The singer regularly collaborates with the pianist Plamena Mangova.

Tatiana Melnychenko’s repertoire includes Tatiana in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Lisa in Tchaikovsky’s Queen of Spades, Amelia in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera, Isabel in Verdi’s Don Carlo, Norma in Bellini’s Norma, and characters by Puccini: Liu in Turandot, Mimí in La Bohème, and the title roles in Tosca, and Suor Angélica. She has also performed fragments of Wagner’s Tannhäuser and Der fliegende Holländer in her recital. Among the recent concert appearances of Tatiana Melnychenko, was the solo recital at the Summer Festival of Cantabria, the recital of arias and duets From Verdi to Verismo presented in the National Music Museum in Madrid in October 2007, an Operatic Gala in the Monumental Theatre and in Brussels. In 2006, the soprano recorded works by Dmitri Shostakovich including Seven Romances on Poems by Alexander Blok.
