Stefano La Colla

One of the most interesting Italian tenors of his generation, Stefano La Colla graduated from the Pietro Mascagni Conservatory in Livorno. He has also studied with Magda Olivero, Katia Ricciarelli, Luciana Serra and Carlo Meliciani. He has performed at the most important Italian opera houses and festivals, including Arena di Verona, Parma Festival, Teatro Verdi di Busseto, Festival Puccini di Torre del Lago, Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania, Teatro Verdi di Pisa, Teatro Valli di Reggio Emilia.

His repertoire includes Verdi’s Ismaele (Nabucco), Radames (Aida), Alfredo (La traviata), Carlo (I Masnadieri), Manrico (Il trovatore), Puccini’s Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), De Grieux (Manon Lescaut), Cavaradossi (Tosca), Calaf (Turandot), Giordano’s Chénier (Andrea Chénier), Mascagni’s Turiddu (Cavalleria rusticana), Leoncavallo’s Canio (Pagliacci).

His recent engagements have included Verdi’s Nabucco at the Teatro Verdi in Busseto under the baton of Marcello Rota, Puccini’s Tosca at the Teatro Marrucino of Chieti and in Pisa, Verdi’s Aida at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa, Turandot at the Theater Regensburg (Germany), Il trovatore (Manrico) at the Staatstheater of Dortmund and at the national theatres of Zagreb and Belgrade.

During the 2013/14 season he gained a great success performing Manon Lescaut (Des Grieux) at Opernhaus in Leipzig and at Festspielhaus und Festspiele in Baden Baden, Tosca (Cavaradossi) at Deutsche Oper in Berlin and Macbeth (Macduff) in Wroclaw. He opened the 2014/15 season performing as Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera at Dortmund Theater. Among his future plans are Manon Lescaut (Des Grieux) in St. Petersburg and Leipzig, Don Carlo (title role) and Nabucco (Ismaele) at Deutsche Oper in Berlin.
