Sergey Murzayev

Sergey Murzaev graduated from the Chelyabinsk Music College in 1987 and from the Moscow Conservatoire in 1991.

In 1991, he joined the trainee group of the Bolshoi Theatre. From 1992 till 2007, he was a soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre. At the Bolshoi Theatre, he performed the Matchmaker in Dargomyzhskyís Rusalka, Prince Igor in Borodinís Prince Igor, Andrey Shchelkalov in Mussorgskyís Boris Godunov, Shaklovity in Mussorgskyís Khovanshchina, Lionel in Tchaikovskyís Maid of Orleans, Eugene Onegin in Tchaikovskyís Eugen Onegin, Yeletsky and Tomsky in Tchaikovskyís Queen of Spades, Robert and Ibn-Hakia in Tchaikovskyís Iolanta, Gryaznoy in Rimsky-Korsakovís Tsarís Bride, Lanciotto Malatesta in Rachmaninoffís Francesca da Rimini, Uteshitelny in Shostakovichís Gamblers, Macbeth in Verdiís Macbeth, Count di Luna in Verdiís Il trovatore, Giorgio Germont in Verdiís La traviata, Renato in Verdiís Un ballo in maschera, Don Carlo in Verdiís La forza del destino, Amonasro in Verdiís Aida, Silvio in Leoncavalloís Pagliacci, Marcello in Pucciniís La bohème, and Scarpia in Pucciniís Tosca. Since 2000, he has been a guest soloist with the Mariinsky Theatre, where he performed baritone parts in Borodinís Prince Igor, Verdiís Macbeth, Un ballo in maschera, Simon Boccanegra, Otello, and Aida, Mussorgskyís Khovanshchina, Rachmaninoffís Francesca da Rimini, Pucciniís Tosca. Since 2017, he joined the Novaya Opera Theatre in Moscow where he performs Gryaznoy in The Tsarís Bride, Prince Igor in Prince Igor, Count di Luna in Il trovatore, Nabucco in Verdiís Nabucco, Amonasro in Verdiís Aida, and Carlo Gérard in Giordanoís Andrea Chénier. His repertoire also includes Barnaba in Ponchielliís La Gioconda, Tonio in Leoncavalloís Pagliacci, Rangoni in Mussorgskyís Boris Godunov, and Alfio in Mascagniís Cavalleria rusticana.

Sergey Murzaev has appeared at the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall (New York), La Scala (Milan), the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden (London), Bastille Opera (Paris). He has toured to Austria, Germany, the USA, Brazil, Chile, Portugal, China, Japan, Korea, Spain, Luxembourg, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, France and Russia. He has participated in many international opera and theatre festivals.
