Sergey Skorokhodov

Sergey Skorokhodov graduated from the St Petersburg Glinka Choral School in 1993. Later he studied at the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire. In 1999, he joined the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers. The same year, he made his debut with the Mariinsky Theatre as Guido Bardi in Zemlinskyís Una tragedia fiorentina. In 2004 and 2005, he attended master classes conducted by Renata Scotto at the Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome.

Since 2007, he has been a soloist with the Mariinsky Theatre. At the Mariinsky Theatre, he performs Lensky in Tchaikovskyís Eugene Onegin, Vaudemont in Tchaikovskyís Iolanta, Andrey Khovansky in Mussorgskyís Khovanshchina, Grigory in Mussorgskyís Boris Godunov, Vladimir Igorevich in Borodinís Prince Igor, Vakula in Rimsky-Korsakovís Christmas Eve, Yaromir in Rimsky-Korsakovís Mlada, Young Gypsy in Rachmaninoffís Aleko, Ivan in Shostakovichís Nose, Zinovy Borisovich in Shostakovichís Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, Anatol Kuragin and Pierre Bezukhov in Prokofievís War and Peace, Pollione in Belliniís Norma in concert, Edgardo in Donizettiís Lucia di Lammermoor, Nemorino in Donizettiís Líelisir díamore, Ismaele in Verdiís Nabucco, Foresto in Verdiís Attila, Macduff in Verdiís Macbeth, Alfredo in Verdiís La traviata, the Duke in Verdiís Rigoletto, Don Carlo in Verdiís Don Carlo, Gabriele Adorno in Verdiís Simon Boccanegra, Mario Cavaradossi in Pucciniís Tosca, Rinuccio in Pucciniís Gianni Schicchi, Erik in Wagnerís Der fliegende Holländer, Lohengrin in Wagnerís Lohengrin, Tannhäuser in Wagnerís Tannhäuser, Bacchus in Straussís Ariadne auf Naxos, and Shepherd in Szymanowskiís Kròl Roger.

In 2010, he made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera with Shostakovichís Nose. He appeared at the Bavarian State Opera (Shostakovichís Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, Mussorgskyís Boris Godunov, and Wagnerís Das Rheingold), Berlin State Opera (Verdiís La traviata), Madrid Royal Theatre (Rimsky-Korsakovís Golden Cockerel), Lyric Opera in Chicago (Verdiís Nabucco), Dallas Opera and Monte Carlo Opera (Tchaikovskyís Iolanta), and the Bolshoi Theatre among others. He participated in the Glyndebourne and Edinburg Festivals and in the Florence Musical May Festival. In season 2018/2019, he made his debut at La Scala in Mussorgskyís Khovanshchina (conductor ó Valery Gergiev). The singerís répertoire also includes Jason in Cherubiniís Médée, and other roles.

Together with the Mariinsky Opera Company, he has toured to Amsterdam (Concertgebouw), Paris (Paris Opera), London (Barbican Hall and Coliseum), Stockholm (Stockholm Royal Opera), Finland (Mikkeli Music Festival), and Eilat (Red Sea Festival).
