Paolo Bordogna

Paolo Bordogna studied at the International Lyric Academy in Desenzano del Garda and at the Rossini Academy in Pesaro with Alberto Zedda.

His repertoire includes more than 50 roles ranging from baroque to contemporary repertoire, with a particular preference for Mozart, Rossini and Donizetti: Dandini and Don Magnifico in Rossini’s La Cenerentola, Dulcamara and Belcore in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Don Pasquale and Malatesta in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, Guglielmo and Don Alfonso in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Figaro and Don Bartolo in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Don Alvaro and Leporello in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Figaro and il Conte in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro.

Since 2005, he has been a regular guest at the Rossini Opera Festival where he has performed in Belcanto recital, Rossini’s La gazzetta, La cambiale di matrimonio, La gazza ladra, La scala di seta, La Cenerentola, Matilde di Shabran, L’occasione fa il ladro, Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Cavalli’s Le Nozze di Teti e di Peleo.

Paolo Bordogna performed at La Scala, Paris National Opera, Vienna Opera, Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, Madrid Royal Theatre, Liceu Theatre in Barcelona, Washington National Opera, Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Palace of Arts in Valencia, Nice Opera, Toulon Opera, Seul Arts Centre, Sydney Opera, National Center of Performing Arts in Beijing, Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome, Maggio Musicale Festival, San Carlo Theatre, Roma Opera Theatre, Parma Royal Theatre, Comunale Theatre in Bologna, and other houses. He has collaborated with Roberto Abbado, Yves Abel, Marco Armiliato, Bruno Campanella, Alan Curtis, Alessandro De Marchi, Dan Ettinger, Jesús López Cobos, Michele Mariotti, Kent Nagano, Evelino Pidò, Stefano Ranzani, Donato Renzetti, Corrado Rovaris, Christophe Rousset, Claudio Scimone, Alberto Zedda, and other conductors.

During the 2017/2018 season, he gained a great success performing Vingradito in La gazza ladra at La Scala, Belcore in L’elisir d’amore at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden and Liceu Theatre in Barcelona, Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro at the Bavarian Opera in in Munich, and the title role in Don Pasquale at the Bilbao Opera. In 2017, he also appeared in Rossini Gala at the Mahon Opera.

His large discography includes several recordings with Decca, Naxos, Dynamic, Bongiovanni, and Opus Arte labels. In April 2015, Decca released his first solo album Tutto Buffo.

Among his future plans: La Cenerentola and Così fan tutte at the Bavarian Opera in, Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Luxembourg Grand Theatre, Washington Opera, National Center of Performing Arts in Bejing, and the New National Theatre of Tokyo, Il turco in Italia at the opera houses of Sydney, Hamburg, and Bilbao, La Cenerentola and Don Pasquale in Düsseldorf, L’equivoco stravagante at the Rossini Festival, Le nozze di Figaro at the Turin Royal Theatre, at the National Center of Performing in Beijing and at the Dallas Opera, as well as L’elisir d’amore at the Glyndebourne Festival.
