Margarita Nekrasova graduated from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire. Since 1994, she has been a soloist of the Novaya Opera Theatre in Moscow.

Her repertoire at the theatre includes the roles of Ratmir (Ruslan and Lyudmila by Mikhail Glinka), the Princess (Rusalka by Alexander Dargomyzhsky), Angel (Demon by Anton Rubinstein), Konchakovna (Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin), the Innkeeper (Boris Godunov by Modest Mussorgsky), Nurse (Eugene Onegin by Pyotr Tchaikovsky), Polina (The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Tchaikovsky), Lel, Spring (The Snow Maiden by Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov), Lyubasha (The Tsar’s Bride by Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov), Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas by Henri Purcell), Elizabeth (Maria Stuarda by Gaetano Donizetti), Fenena (Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi), Azucena (Il trovatore by Giuseppe Verdi), Flora (La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi), Amneris (Aida by Giuseppe Verdi), Lyubov (Mazeppa by Pyotr Tchaikovsky), Brangena (Tristan and Isolde by Richard Wagner), Vanya (A Life for the Tsar by Mikhail Glinka), Herodiade (Salome by Richard Strauss), mezzo-soprano roles in Requiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi, Stabat Mater by Giovanni Pergolesi, as well as mezzo-soprano roles in concerts Rossini, Bravissimo, O, Mozart, Mozart, Viva Verdi!, Richard Wagner, and Homage to Evgeny Kolobov.

The singer has performed at La Scala in Milan, Comunale Theatre in Florence, Berlin State Opera, Berlin Comic Opera, Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Lyon Opera, Liceu Theatre in Barcelona, Madrid Royal Theatre, as well as at the Salzburg, Edinburg and Aix-en-Provence Festivals.

The singer has performed with Daniel Barenboim, Kirill Petrenko, Vladimir Jurowski, Evgeny Kolobov, Vladimir Fedoseev, Kazushi Ono, Kent Nagano, Mariss Jansons, Michael Güttler, Semyon Bychkov and other conductors as well as with Yuri Lyubimov, Barrie Kosky, Dmitri Tcherniakov, Eimuntas Nekrošius, Achim Freyer, Liliana Kavani, Yuri Grymov, Yuri Alexandrov, Guy Cassiers, Hans Neuenfels, Peter Stein and other stage directors.
