Mikhail Gavrilov

When still a child, Mikhail Gavrilov won several prizes for international vocal competitions and appeared with child’s solo roles in opera productions at the Mariinsky Theatre and on tours of the Mariinsky Opera, performing, among others, at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington under the batons of Valery Gergiev, Gary Bertini, and Gianandrea Noseda. In 2004–2009, he studied at the Chorus Conducting Department of the St Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Music School. In 2009–2013, he studied at the Vocal and Chorus Department of the St Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts. In 2014, he graduated cum laude from the Institute for Music, Theatre, and Choreography of the Russian State Herzen Pedagogical University (Vocal Department). Since 2012, he has been a trainee of Alexander Morozov, a soloist of the Mariinsky Opera. He has perfected his vocal technique at the Monte Carlo Opera and with a pianist of the Juilliard School. In 2013, he studied under Vera Danchenko-Stern, Artistic Director of the Russian Chamber Art Society in Washington. He has participated in master classes held by Sergei Leiferkus, Rusanna Lisitsian, and other singers. He performed at concert halls and theatres of Lisbon, Brussel, Kaunas, Pärnu, Sochi, and St Petersburg. He regularly wins prizes for vocal competitions and performs in various concerts, festivals, and with solo programs. The singer’s répertoire includes folk and Soviet songs, arias and duets from Italian and Russian operas and operettas, and romances.
