Karlen Manukyan

soloist of the Perm Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre,

Graduated from the Urals Mussorgsky State Conservatoire (classes of People’s Artist of Russia, Professor Nikolai Golyshev and Professor Lilia Polyakova) in 2022. In the same year, he made his debut on the stage of the Ural Opera Ballet Theatre (Yekaterinburg) as Helmsman (The Flying Dutchman by R. Wagner), and also performed the part of Lensky in the opera Eugene Onegin by P. I. Tchaikovsky.
Since the 2022/23 season he is the soloist of the Perm Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre, guest soloist of the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow and the Ural Opera Ballet Theatre.
The singer’s repertoire includes the roles of Likov (The Tsar’s Bride) and Kashchey (Kashchey the Deathless) in operas by N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov; Afanasy Ivanovich (The Fair at Sorochintsy by M. P. Mussorgsky), Lensky (Eugene Onegin), Vaudémont (Iolanta) in operas by P. I. Tchaikovsky; Alexei (The Gambler by S. S. Prokofiev), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni by W. A. Mozart), Rodolfo (La Bohème), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) and Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca) in operas by G. Puccini; Edgardo di Ravenswood (Lucia di Lammermoor by G. Donizetti), Riccardo (A Masked Ball), Alfredo Germont (La Traviata, concert performance), the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto, concert performance) in operas by G. Verdi, Tom Rakewell (The Rake’s Progress by I. F. Stravinsky), the Young Gypsy (Aleko by S. V. Rachmaninoff, concert performance).

  • Winner of the special diploma "Nadezhda "Bravo!"" of the Sverdlovsk regional competition of theatrical works of the festival "Bravo!" for the role of Alexei in the play "The Gambler" (Yekaterinburg, 2022)
  • Winner of the International Opera Bella Festival and Competition (Moscow, 2021, 1st prize and special prize "For partnership in duets")
  • Winner of the International Competition of Young Performers of Russian Romance "Romansiada" (Moscow, 2020, Grand Prix)
