Kristian Benedikt
Kristian Benedikt began his career at the Lithuanian Opera, where he has performed more than 20 roles. In 2013, he made his debut with the Bavarian Opera performing Othello in Verdi’s opera. He also starred as Othello in Modena, Piacenza, Cagliari, Ekaterinburg, Vilnius, Santiago, and Basel. As a guest soloist, he appears at the Mariinsky Theatre, as well as at opera houses of Copenhagen, Helsinki, Amsterdam, Tallinn and Barcelona among others. The singer’s répertoire includes Manrico in Il trovatore, Alfredo in La traviata, the Duke in Rigoletto, Radames in Aida, and the title roles in Ernani and Don Carlo by Verdi, Calaf in Turandot, Dick Johnson in La fanciulla del West, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, and Cavaradossi in Tosca by Puccini, Jose in Carmen by Bizet, Siegmund in Die Walküre and the title roles in Lohengrin and Rienzi by Wagner, Des Grieux in Massenet’s Manon, the title role in Giordano’s Andrea Chénier, Edgardo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Hoffmann in Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann, Eléazar in Halévy’s La Juive, Corrado Wallenrod in Ponchielli’s I Lituani, Canio in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, and Turiddu in Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana. In 2002, he participated in recording of Ponchielli’s La Gioconda featuring Placido Domingo and the Munich Radio Orchestra under the baton of Marcello Viotti. The singer’s concert répertoire includes Dubois’s Les Sept Paroles du Christ, Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Verdi’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde, Rachmaninoff’s Les Cloches, and Weber’s Requiem. Kristian Benedikt performed under the batons of Marcello Viotti, Riccardo Chailly, Alberto Hold-Garrido, Maurizio Barbacini, Paolo Carignani, Asher Fisch, and Giampaolo Bisanti. He appeared in productions staged by Will Decker, Dmitry Bertman, Arnaud Bernard, Eimuntas Nekrošius, Pier Francesco Maestrini, and Igor Ushakov.
