Khachatur Badalyan

Born in 1982, in 2004 he graduated cum laude the Don State University as a specialist in the World Economy and the Rostov State Conservatory named after Sergey Rachmaninov (Professor Petrova’s class). In 2004-2006, was a soloist of the Rostov Region Philharmonic Hall. In 2005, he received a prize of the Youth Programme Talants of Motherland. In 2007, he became a soloist of MosConcert. In 2007, he joined the Moscow Novaya Opera Theatre. In 2008, he became a guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre, where he performed the roles of Rudolf (La Bohème) and Vaudémont (Iolanta). He participated in the master classes of Michael Paul. In 2007, he received a special prize at the Riccardo Zandonai Competition for Opera Singers. In 2008, he received the first prize at the Luciano Pavarotti International Competition for Tenors (St. Petersburg). In 2010, he received Grand Prix at the III Vishnevskaya International Competition for Opera Singers (Moscow). In 2011, he received the second prize at the I Marcello Giordani International Vocal Competition. He worked with such conductors as Mikhail Pletnyov, Teodor Kurentzis, Kery-Linn Wilson, Jan-Latham Koenig. The singer’s repertory includes the roles of Rudolf (La Bohème), Lohengrin (Lohengrin), Alfredo (La traviata), Duke (Rigoletto), Ismael (Nabucco), Rodrigo, Cassio (Othello), Fenton (The Merry Wives of Windsor), Vladimir Igorevich (Prince Igor), Vaudémont (Iolanta), Young Gipsy (Aleko). Khachatur Badalyan is a guest soloist of Teatro Bellini (Catania), Wielki Opera of Warsaw, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and the Montreal Opera.
