Matthew Golding

guest principal of the Hong Kong Ballet, choreographer

Matthew Golding studied at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, the Washington Ballet Academy, and the Royal Ballet School in London. In 2003, he joined the American Ballet Theatre, and in 2009, he became a member of the Dutch National Ballet, where he was promoted to principal dancer in 2010. From 2014 to 2017, he was the principal dancer of the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden. As a guest soloist, he has collaborated with the Bavarian State Ballet, Mariinsky Theatre, Perm State Opera and Ballet Theatre, the National Ballet of Canada, the English National Ballet, and other renowned companies. Currently, Matthew Golding is a guest principalof the Hong Kong Ballet.
His repertoire includes roles in ballets by Marius Petipa, George Balanchine, Natalia Makarova, Rudi van Danzig, John Neumeier, Hans van Manen, Paul Lightfoot and Sol León, Christopher Wheeldon, and other choreographers.
In 2020, he co-founded GOLDENLAC Productions with Lucia Lacarra, now known as Lucia Lacarra Ballet, for which he stages ballet productions as a choreographer.
