Gleb Filshtinsky

Born in Leningrad in 1970, he graduated from the St Petersburg Theatre Academy. For his 25-year-career, Gleb Filshtinsky participated in creating more than 200 drama and musical productions in the renowned Russian theatres, including the Maly Drama Theatre — Theatre of Europe, Bolshoi Theatre, Alexandrinsky Theatre, Mariinsky Theatre, Bolshoi Drama Theatre in St Petersburg, Baltic House Festival Theatre, Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, Moscow Operetta Theatre, Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre, Moscow Young Generation Theatre, Moscow Music Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre, Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre, Akimov Comedy Theatre, Et Cetera Theatre headed by Alexander Kalyagin, Moscow Sovremennik Theatre.

He cooperates with many foreign theatres, including the Paris Opera, Schaubühne Berlin Theatre, Teatro Real in Madrid, English National Opera, La Monnaie in Brussels, Burgtheater in Vienna, Bavarian Opera, La Scala, Metropolitan Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Dutch National Opera, Salzburg Festival, Zurich Opera, among many others.

He created lighting design for many musicals, including Nord Ost, Monte Cristo, An Ordinary Miracle, Count Orlov, Scarlet Sails. He created and heads the St Petersburg Show Consulting Stage Technologies Studio. He is also the head of the Management of the Artistic and Technological Processes in Contemporary Theatre Master’s Program of the St Petersburg Theatre Academy.

He was repeatedly awarded the Russian National Theatre Golden Mask Premium; he participated in the Paris Quadriennale. He also received the Latvian National Theatre Premium, the Estonian Theatre Premium, and the All-Russian Facets of Mass Theatre Premium.
