Celine Byrne

Soprano


Celine Byrne made her operatic début as Mimì in the Scottish Opera’s 2010 production of La Bohème. In the seasons that have followed, Celine has performed extensively throughout Europe as well as in the United States, China, Russia and Mexico: she appeared as Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly at the Moscow State Natalia Sats Opera, Micaëla in Carmen at the Royal Opera House, Floria Tosca in Tosca with Opera Østfold in association with Norway National Opera, Marietta in Korngold’s Die tote Stadt and Die Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier, both with Staatstheater Kassel.

She appeared as Contessa Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro at Staatstheater Kassel, as Mimì in La Bohème with Moscow’s Novaya Opera. Celine sang début roles as Liú in Turandot and as Elizabeth in Verdi’s Don Carlo, both at Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf.

She shared the stage with world-renowned tenors Roberto Alagna, Andrea Bocelli, Joseph Calleja and José Carreras.

Celine holds an honours Music Degree from the Conservatory of Music and Drama, Dublin and received her Masters in Music from the RIAM in 2007. She has received coaching at the National Opera Studio of London and studied with Christa Ludwig at the Vienna Staatsoper.
In 2007 Celine was awarded the First Prize and Gold Medal at the Maria Callas Grand Prix, Athens. Other awards include the Margaret Burke-Sheridan Gold Medal in 2009, the William Young Prize at the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition, Dublin 2007 and the Brabants Dagblad Press Prize at the IVC International Singing Competition in s’Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands.
