Gayane Babajanyan

Gayane Babajanyan graduated from the St Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in 2015.

In 2013, she performed Zemfira in Rachmaninoff’s Aleko and Flora in Verdi’s La traviata in the Conservatoire Theatre. In 2015, the singer participated in the Magnificent Strauss Music Festival (St Petersburg). In 2016–2017, she was a trainee of the Mariinsky Academy of Young Opera Singers. Since 2017, she has been a soloist of the Novaya Opera Theatre in Moscow. The singer’s répertoire at the Novaya Opera includes Rosina in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Hänsel in Humperdinck’s Gingerbread House, or Hänsel und Gretel, Lucretia in Britten’s Rape of Lucretia, Mother Sparrow in Podgaits’s Barankin, be a sport!, Siébel in Gounod’s Faust, Stéphano in Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette, Gypsy in Boyarsky’s Pushkin, Bersi in Giordano’s Andrea Chénier (in concert). She also participated in gala concerts Johann Strauss, the Waltz King and Waltzes, Tangos & Foxtrots at the Novaya Opera Theatre. In 2019, she made her debut with the Bolshoi Theatre as the Sorceress in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas.

  • Onegin Opera Award in the category “Debut (women)” for Lucretia in Britten’s Rape of Lucretia (2019)
