Alexey Repnikov
Alexey Repnikov studied at the Musical School of the St Petersburg Conservatoire and at the St Petersburg Conservatoire as a trombone player. In 2009, she undertook traineeship as a symphony conductor.
In 1991, Alexey Repnikov joined the Mariinsky Theatre as a trombone player. In 1996, he joined the Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra. In 2007, he made his debut at the Mariinsky Theatre as a conductor with Stravinsky’s Le Sacre du printemps. In 2016–2020, he was also the director of the Mariinsky Orchestras. At the Mariinsky Theatre, he conducted dozens of classical, soviet and modern ballets and performances of the Russian Ballet Academy. With the Mariinsky Orchestra, he performed at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Metropolitan Opera, and Kennedy Center. He has toured to Japan, China, Singapore, Thailand, Germany, France, Switzerland, Finland, Spain, Italy, Great Britain, USA, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico. He is the initiator of the Grand Mariinsky Brass Ensemble, of the International Festival “Brass Evenings at the Mariinsky”, and of the Festival Symphony Orchestra “Soul of St Petersburg”. Since 2020, Alexey Repnikov is a guest conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre.
In 2019, Alexey Repnikov made his debut with the Mikhailovsky Theatre conducting Don Quixote. Since 2019, he conducted almost all the ballets of the Mikhailovsky répertoire.
