Alexander Sladkovsky
Alexander Sladkovsky graduated from the Moscow and St Petersburg Conservatories. He made his conductor’s debut at the St Petersburg Conservatoire Theatre with Mozart’s Così fan tutte.
He used to be the principal conductor of the St Petersburg Capella Symphony Orchestra and an assistant to Mariss Jansons and Mstislav Rostropovich. In 2006–2010, he was a conductor of Yury Bashmet’s „New Russia“ State Symphony Orchestra. As a guest conductor, he has cooperated with orchestras of St Petersburg, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Dresden, São Paulo, Rome, Monte-Carlo, Budapest, and other cities. In 2001–2005, he was the principal conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of the Russian Students.
Since 2010, he has been the artistic director and principal conductor of the State Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan. Under his baton, the orchestra has performed across Russia and abroad: in Paris, Vienna, Tokyo, and Linz. Performances of the orchestra were broadcasted through Medici.tv è Mezzo.
Under the baton of Alexander Sladkovsky, different orchestras have participated in international and Russian festivals. Sladkovsky has organized several festivals himself: „Rakhlin’s Seasons“, „White Lilac“, „Kazan Autumn“, Concordia, „Denis Matsuev and Friends“, and others.
Alexander Sladkovsky has cooperated with Denis Matsuev, Yury Bashmet, Mikhail Pletnev, Krzysztof Penderecki, Vadim Repin, Montserrat Caballé, Olga Borodina, Roberto Alagna, Plácido Domingo, Dmitry Khvorostovsky, and many others.
In 2012, he recorded The Anthology of Tatarstan Music and the album Serenity with Sony Music and RCA Red Seal Records. In 2016, he recorded three Mahler’s symphonies and Shostakovich’s symphonies and instrumental concerts with the Melody Record Company.
