Victor Lebedev
principal dancer of the Mikhailovsky Theatre
Honoured Artist of Russia
Victor Lebedev is a graduate of the Vaganova Ballet Academy, where his teacher was Mansur Yenikeev. Immediately after finishing his studies in 2010, he was accepted into the ballet troupe of the Mikhailovsky Theatre as a soloist and made his debut as Prince Désiré in the ballet The Sleeping Beauty.
In 2014, Viktor Lebedev took part in the Kings of Dance project, and a year later in the Bolshoi Ballet television contest together with Anastasia Soboleva.
In 2015, the artist became the principal dancer of the troupe. “Viktor Lebedev is an extra-class classical dancer; now there are only a few of them in the world,” says Mikhail Messerer, the theatre’s chief guest choreographer. “Noble”, “impeccable”, “perfect” — these epithets invariably accompany every mention of the artist in the press. Critics note his “aristocratic breed and high performing culture” and claim that he has no equal “in the attraction of virtuoso pirouettes and jumps, exquisite skids and dashing battements, lyrical adagios and desperate supports.”
In 2023, Viktor Lebedev was awarded the title of Honoured Artist of Russia.
