Marat Shemiunov
first soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theatre
Marat Shemiunov graduated from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet in 2001 and joined the Mikhailovsky Theatre troupe the same year.
In 2007, Marat Shemiunov was nominated for the highest theatre award of St. Petersburg “Zolotoy sofit” (Best male ballet performance) for his performance of the role of Jean de Brien in the ballet “Raymonda”.
Critics note the dancer’s amazing charisma and artistry: “Marat Shemiunov is a sensitive, intelligent artist who subtly understands the complexity of an artistic task and knows how to concentrate on the role.” Today at the Mikhailovsky Theatre he performs leading and character roles in almost all ballets of the current repertoire.
