World Ballet Day

The Mikhailovsky Ballet is a member of a large ballet family. Having received a special invitation from the Royal Ballet of the Royal Opera House in London Covent Garden — the company that started the celebration of the day — we prepared a special treat as a part of the program. The public will have a chance to take a sneak peek behind the scenes and learn about the creation of the ballet ‘La Bayadère’, the sensational premiere of last autumn. It was staged by the Spanish choreographer Nacho Duato, who was inspired by the heritage of Marius Petipa.

The documentary to be broadcast on the Mikhailovsky Theatre’s official Facebook page features interviews with the creators and performers of the ballet, as well as its brightest fragments. The show starts at 11 am Moscow time. We would like to thank Bel Air Media and Mezzo TV for their help in making the film.
