Vladimir Medinsky welcomes Grand Prix competitors
WELCOME
FROM RUSSIAN MINISTER OF CULTURE
VLADIMIR MEDINSKY
TO COMPETITORS, ORGANIZERS, AND VISITORS TO
THE MIKHAILOVSKY THEATRE GRAND PRIX
Dear Friends,
I would like to offer you a warm welcome to the Mikhailovsky Theatre.
The annual exhibition by ballet schools on this imperial stage has become a fine tradition. Every year, teachers and pupils gather at the Mikhailovsky Theatre: the teachers to share experience and their pupils to demonstrate their abilities, sharing the stage with recognized ballet stars, learning the secrets of the craft from their more senior colleagues, and experiencing the emotion and support of the audience. Thus, the new generation of dancers begin to sense that they are part of the great history of ballet and feel a responsibility for its future.
Ballet is part of our national heritage, one of the areas in which Russia is extremely competitive. It is wonderful that the Mikhailovsky Theatre not only maintains the high reputation of Russian ballet with its productions, regular ballet premières, and successful tours in Russia and abroad, but also devotes just as much effort and heartfelt warmth to those who are just learning the basics of the ballet dancer’s profession.
I wish you all success!
