The return of “Don Quixote”

On 8 March the Mikhailovsky Theatre has a truly magical gift in store for the audience. One of the most spectacular and festive productions in our repertoire, “Don Quixote” in the revision by Mikhail Messerer, will be performed by stars of world ballet. The prima ballerina of the Mikhailovsky Theatre Angelina Voronstova and honoured artist of Russia Ivan Vasiliev will take the stage.

“Don Quixote”, perhaps the most life-affirming work of the ballet theatre, is performed at the Mikhailovsky Theatre in the revision by Mikhail Messerer. This production makes use of the finest elements from choreographers of several generations. The performers of the main roles are always free in their choice of acting nuances — they do not simply demonstrate a phenomenal technique, but each time they live out the stories of their characters in a new way.

Today, Ivan Vasiliev is a welcome guest on the world’s finest stages. He possesses a unique stage charisma, and every performance he gives is a gift for audiences. Angelina Vorontsova, nimble, swift and temperamental, performs the role of Kitri brilliantly. The performance of this duo is an event not to be missed.
