The legendary Neil Shicoff at the Mikhailovsky
On 23 October the renowned American tenor Neil Shicoff, who gained great critical acclaim in spring 2010, will perform the role of Eléazar in the Mikhailovsky Theatre production of La Juive for the second time.
Neil Shicoff, hailed as the best Eléazar, made his Russian debut at the Mikhailovsky Theatre and on 28 April 2010 he performed in the premiere performance of La Juive. The new production of the theatre featuring the legendary singer became a great event in the musical world.
“The postponement of my concert at the Philharmonic Hall has enabled me to be available to dedicate this time to the wonderful Mikhailovsky Theater for a performance of La Juive on Oct. 23rd. After the great experience performing with them last spring, I am very happy to have this opportunity once again and am very much looking forward to visiting the great city of St. Petersburg to perform for the most knowledgeable and demanding public of this stunningly beautiful and culturally rich city,” — commented Neil Shicoff.
The performance on 23 October 2010 will feature an international team: the Mikhailovsky Opera soloist Tatiana Ryaguzova as Rachel, the soloist of the Slovak National Opera Otokar Klein as Léopold, the Moscow Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre Dmitry Ulianov as Cardinal de Brogni (the singer performed the role last year in Tel Aviv), the Mikhailovsky Opera soloists Natalia Mironova as Eudoxie and Yury Ivshin as Ruggero. Musical Director and Principal Conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theatre Peter Feranec will lead the performance.
