The Laureates of the Mikhailovsky Grand Prix 2010
On 20 November 2010 the Mikhailovsky Grand Prix awards ceremony took place. At the opening of the ceremony, the Plenipotentiary Representative of President of Russia in the North-West region, The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mikhailovsky Theatre Ilya Klebanov read out a telegram from Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin addressed to the organisers and participants of the Grand Prix.
The address read: ‘I am pleased to see that the intention of the Grand Prix is to maintain the prestige of the Russian ballet school with its rich history and great traditions, to assist and promote talented and successful artists, and to enrich the lives of the public by staging a a series of outstanding events.’
The Artistic Council of the Mikhailovsky Grand Prix viewed and analysed the performances of the finalists and reached a decision to award
KSENIA ZHIGANSHINA (The St Petersburg Vaganova Ballet Academy) with the GRAND PRIX
NIKITA CHETVERIKOV (The Perm State Ballet College) with the GOLD MEDAL
MARIA REPETIYEVA (The Novosibirsk State Ballet College) with the SILVER MEDAL
DMITRY BYAKOV (The Perm State Ballet College) with the BRONZE MEDAL.
Special diplomas were awarded to
DMITRY PIMONOV (The St Petersburg Vaganova Ballet Academy) for the choreographic piece Aria set to music by J.S.Bach
ELIZAVETA MENSHIKOVA (The St Petersburg Vaganova Ballet Academy) for the choreographic piece Kamarinskaya set to music by Mikhail Glinka
YAROSLAV BAYBORDIN (The St Petersburg Vaganova Ballet Academy) for his LIFT MASTERY
POLINA BULDAKOVA (The Perm State Ballet College) for PARTNERSHIP
The award ceremony was held by the Artistic Council members, representatives of the sponsors and partners. The Grand Prix was awarded by parton of the arts Mr Toshikhiko Takakhashi together with soloist of the Mariinsky Ballet Ekaterina Kondaurova, the gold medal was awarded by the General Manager of the Europe Grand Hotel Yulia Pashkovskaya together with soloist of the Bolshoi Ballet Ivan Vasiliev.
The ceremony concluded with a performance by the laureates.
The laureates of the Mikhailovsky Grand Prix were also awarded with cash prizes: the Grand Prix winner received 300 000 RUB, the Gold Medalist received 200 000 RUB, the Silver Medalist — 150 000 RUB and the Bronze Medalist — 100 000 RUB. Each participating school received a special grant of 300 000 RUB in support of the teaching staff.
