Summer of Ballet

In St. Petersburg, the most romantic time of the year is undoubtedly the long-awaited summer. It is no coincidence that the main character of Dostoevsky’s White Nights is called the Dreamer, because summer is the time for hope and falling in love. It’s the time to stroll along the city’s canals, admire its architecture, dine outdoors, and, of course, visit the Mikhailovsky Theatre.

We have put together a unique ballet marathon for our audiences: the Summer of Ballet, which has become our theatre’s calling card.
A world of dreams and fantasies will unfold before us in Cinderella (1–2 June and 15–16 July), The Nutcracker (4 June), and The Little Humpbacked Horse (5 June and 2 July).

The passion and tragedy of doomed love will be felt in Spartacus (15–17 June, 6–7 July), Romeo and Juliet (10–11 June, 19–20 July), and La Bayadère (24–25 June, 21–22 July).

The vivid colours of Spain will blaze in Don Quixote on 19 June and 25–26 July, and on 1 July a wave of freedom will sweep France in The Flames of Paris.

We will end each summer month with the most touching, tender ballets: The Sleeping Beauty (21–22 June, 13–14 July) and Swan Lake (28–29 June, 27–29 July).
