Student Wednesdays for the New Season
For its 180th commemorative season, the Mikhailovsky Theatre is continuing its Student Wednesdays offer, aimed at introducing students to modern productions and classical masterpieces alike. As before, on one Wednesday of each month, students can purchase tickets for an opera or ballet performance at a reduced price. By presenting a student card at the box office, a student can reserve any seat in the auditorium for just RUB 700.
This is now the second season of Student Wednesdays at the Mikhailovsky Theatre. This offer immediately caught the attention of that most attentive and discerning of audiences: the younger generation. The special ticket price is not the only thing that brings in young theatregoers. It also presents a fantastic opportunity for them to go and see the most interesting and popular productions, those which always play to full houses and are therefore usually difficult for students to attend. «We have the best seats in the house — in the dress circle — for just 700 roubles! The promotion’s a great idea: Low prices and good seats» (Masha Mazilina and Alyona Martynchuk, St. Petersburg State University).
The first production for students in the 180th season will be Giacomo Puccini’s ever-popular opera La Bohème (26 September). On 10 October, the Mikhailovsky Theatre will offer students one of the most brilliant premières of last season: Nacho Duato’s much talked-about ballet, Multiplicity. Forms of Silence and Emptiness and on 14 October, — opera Rusalka by Antonín Dvořák. On 26 December, students will have the opportunity to see Un ballo in maschera, an opera which is considered one of the pinnacles of Giuseppi Verdi’s artistic achievements.
Tickets for Student Wednesdays are available only at the Mikhailovsky Theatre box office. One ticket may be purchased for each student ID presented. Students must show a valid student ID or ISIC card when attending the production.
