On 14 February, St. Valentine’s Day, we present our first premiere of the year: Johann Strauss’s operetta Die Fledermaus. On 23 February, Defender of the Fatherland Day, the Mikhailovsky will present Hidalgo of La Mancha, the foremost ballet premiere of the theatre’s anniversary season. This reimagining of Don Quixote is infused with the spirit of La Mancha. This comic ballet will whisk you away with its captivating sense of fun and the veritable whirlwind of classical dance conjured up by beautiful Lise, lovestruck Colas, and arguably St. Petersburg’s most charismatic widow, the Widow Simone, played by the inimitable Nikolay Tsiskaridze.
