Premiere of the musical The Cat that Walked by Himself
On May, 1 the St Petersburg State Musical Theatre for Children Zazerkalie presents the premiere of the musical The Cat that Walked by Himself. Especially for the young audience the Mikhailovsky Theatre invited the Zazerkalie Theatre.
The production by Vladimir Baskin based on the fairytale by Rudyard Kipling and a play by Nona Slepakova is a performance both for children and adults.
A young composer from St Petersburg Vladimir Baskin, who has written music for 2 ballets, 50 theatre productions, 11 films, several cantatas, chamber and vocal compositions, introduces a new interpretation of the famous plot.
Bright costumes and original costumes are worth special attention. The stage designer Natalia Klyomina, stage director Snezhina Koprova and the actress Nadezhda Antifeyeva (for the role of the Cat) were awarded at the XIX Festival Theatres of St Petersburg to Children.
