Our Congratulations to Nikolay Kopylov
On June, 27 Nikolay Kopylov, the singer, who devoted about 30 years to the Mikhailovsky Opera, celebrated his 60th anniversary.
Nikolay Kopylov graduated from the Ural State Conservatoire. In1977-1983 he was a soloist of the Sverdlovsk Opera House and taught singing at the Sverdlovsk Music School. From 1983 he has been singing at the Mikhailovsky Theatre.
His repertoire includes baritone roles in both Russian and European classical operas: Di Posa, Onegin, Germont, Figaro, Tomsky, Eletsky, Scarpia, Ibn-Hakkia, Escamilio, Gryaznoy, Alfio, Eisentein. He has also performed music by modern composers — in Mary Stewart by Sergey Slonimsky, The Taming of the Shrew by Vissarion Shebalin, Dorotea by Tikhon Khrennikov, The Brothers Karamazov by Alexander Kholminov. He is extremely interested in chamber repertoire.
