Nikita Dolgushin was awarded with the St Petersburg Government Premium

On June, 24 Nikita Dolgushin was awarded with the St Petersburg Government Premium in the sphere of literature, arts and architecture "For the Outstanding Contribution into the Development of St Petersburg Culture.

A brilliant dancer, a talented choreographer, and ballet master Nikita Dolgushin dedicated 50 years to the art of ballet and contributed much to the dance culture of St Petersburg. A unique life onstage, his versatility, his dedication to ballet represents the true Petersburg style of Dolgushin’s fate and creativity.

In 1960-80s he danced in the main St Petersburg theatres: at the Mariinsky Theatre, the Mikhailovsky Theatre, the Conservatoire Studio, the Theatre of Boris Eifman, the Camber Ballet. The characters he created onstage were both admired by the audiences and studied by ballet critics. His classical roles are an example of impeccable taste, the best academic tradition, purity and refinement.

The renowned choreographers such as Yury Grigorovich, Oleg Vinogradov, Nikolay Boyarchikov, Boris Eifman, Mai Murdmaa, and Georgy Alexidze worked with him. Later Dolgushin revealed another talent of his as choreographer. He produced one-act ballets Romeo and Juliet, Concert in White, Revelations, Mozartiana, Chamber Suite, Clitemnestra, and Carmen Suite.

Dolgushin revived a number of lost choreographic masterpieces: in 2007 he revived the ballet Giselle, ou Les Wilis at the Mikhailovsky Theatre. As a repetiteur of the Mikhailovsky Theatre he shares the secrets of his mastery with up-and-coming dancers.
