Mikhailovsky Theatre ballet soloist and choreographer Alexander Omar has been appointed artistic director of the NOVAT ballet troupe! Alexander’s career as a choreographer developed rapidly: in January 2023, the premiere of the operetta “Die Fledermaus” took place, followed by work on a new version of the ballet “Le Corsaire”. Already in October, the premiere of Alexander Omar’s first big performance took place — the ballet “The Limpid Stream” to the music of Dmitry Shostakovich, which was awarded the St. Petersburg Government Prize in the field of culture and art in 2023 in the category “Musical and stage art”.

Alexander met the NOVAT ballet troupe during the production of the ballet “Le Corsaire” on the Novosibirsk stage, at the same time he noted the excellent shape in which the ballet dancers were and won the sympathy of the dancers with his professionalism, charm and wonderful sense of humour.
