New Generation of Stars. Pianist Alexandra Dovgan
Alexandra Dovgan, a young pianist with an astounding global career, will feature in the next New Generation of Stars concert, performing Mozart’s Concerto No. 23 with the Mikhailovsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra on 27 June. Her portfolio of professional achievements lists wins in several international youth competitions, including the Astana Piano Passion, the Vladimir Krainev Young Pianists Competition, and the Nutcracker International Television Contest for Young Musicians. In 2018, this young Muscovite won the Grand Prix at the international Grand Piano Competition.
“Despite her young age, Alexandra Dovgan possesses extraordinary talent and artistic maturity,” say her teachers and fellow musicians. The young pianist’s skill has been received enthusiastically by audiences at the renowned Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, and the Salzburg Festival. Dovgan’s creative image is revealed in the documentary Per aspera. “I only get nervous backstage,” says Alexandra. “When I walk out onto the stage, even as I take my first step, I know I just have to stop worrying and focus only on the music...”
