Marking the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory

Victory Day is a celebration that unites generations, a source of pain and pride in all our hearts. On 7 May, just before the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Mikhailovsky Theatre is staging a concert that will bring our audience members closer to ‘that great era’, regardless of their age. The concert will feature songs from the war and pre-war years that provided distraction and support for those who took part in the push for victory on the battlefields and in factories, as well as music written after the war that preserves the memory of our nation’s heroism.

The concert will feature the Mikhailovsky Theatre Orchestra, Chorus, and soloists, with Olesya Petrova, Marina Tregubovich, Victoria Voytenkova, Nikolay Kopylov, Boris Pinkhasovich, Boris Stepanov, and Damir Zakirov all performing on stage. Helping the audience to connect with what is called the spirit of the era will be songs by Matvey Blanter, Isaak Dunayevsky, Anatoly Novikov, Vasily Solovyov-Sedoy, Yan Frenkel, Andrey Petrov, Yakov Dubravin, Valery Gavrilin, Alexandra Pakhmutova, and David Tukhmanov. The programme will also include excerpts from works by Dmitri Shostakovich.
