LenSpetsStroy: Partner of the Mikhailovsky Theatre Orchestra
Next season, the Mikhailovsky’s 179th, the orchestra will have an official partner: the LenSpetsStroy construction company. This partnership was announced at the close of the opera season on 28 July.
Before the opera began Peter Feranec, the theatre’s Musical Director and Principal Conductor, came out onto the apron to introduce the construction company’s General Director, Doctor of Technical Sciences Professor Dmitry Astafiev, to the audience and to the musicians seated in the orchestra pit. Warm applause greeted the announcement that, as a result of the construction company’s support, several new top-class musical instruments will be purchased for the orchestra.
In thanking the sponsors, Peter Feranec said he was very pleased to make the acquaintance of people whose professional activity is not connected with musical theatre, but who have a sincere love for it and consider it necessary to support it.
In his reply, Dmitry Astafiev explained his motives in deciding to help the theatre. “I first came to this theatre when I was four years old. Ever since then, opera and ballet have been a source of joy and an important part of my life, as they are for many people in St. Petersburg. I have seen how dramatically the Mikhailovsky Theatre has developed in recent years, how rapidly it has become one of the leading companies. And today I am happy to be able to offer my favourite theatre my help and support.”
