Admirers of Nacho Duato’s work will particularly enjoy the rich, varied playbill coming up in June. The Mikhailovsky’s artistic director’s achievements include the new luster and fame he has given one of the Northern Capital’s main theatres, as well as 14 stunning productions, including some created specially for our troupe. The chance to witness five of the celebrated Spaniard’s choreographic masterpieces is a pleasure not to be missed. June will bring performances of Swan Lake (1 June), La Bayadère (20 and 21 June), The Nutcracker (23 and 24 June) and The Sleeping Beauty (28 and 29 June), as well as an original version of Don Quixote. The world premiere of ballet The Hidalgo of La Mancha, the biggest theatre event of last year, can be seen this summer on 14 and 16 June.

Those who appreciate classical ballet traditions and 21st century technology will certainly find the new version of Le Corsaire (17 and 25 June) to their liking. The thrilling adventures of reckless pirates and oriental beauties will fascinate adults and children alike, as will the spectacular Spartacus, choreographed by Georgy Kovtun. The story of the legendary gladiator, set in the very heart of imperial Rome, will grace our stage on 6 and 7 June.

Popular productions for the whole family to watch together include much-loved ballet fairytales, which even the youngest viewers will enjoy. There will be the playful fantasy world of The Little Humpbacked Horse (3 June), the colourful Cipollino (4 June), the moving Cinderella (9 and 10 June), and the enchanting La Fille mal gardée (30 June and 1 July) featuring Nikolay Tsiskaridze.

Italian opera lovers can look forward to the triumphant return of Aida (2 July). The exciting, dramatic plot, breathtakingly beautiful music, sophisticated set design, and fantastic costumes have brought our production critical acclaim and made it an audience favourite. Connoisseurs of the classics will undoubtedly be drawn to our luxurious productions of La traviata (8 July) and Tosca (22 June). Performances that have long become Petersburg theatrical heritage will feature alongside new names in our repertoire in June. The unique set design and stunning historical costumes of The Oprichnik (12 June) will transport viewers to the times of Ivan the Terrible, while Die Fledermaus (18 June) will swirl them in the joyous bustle of a noisy Viennese ball.

Cast lists are published on our website. Don’t miss performances from your favourite stars and a series of memorable debuts. We’re looking forward to seeing you at the Mikhailovsky Theatre this summer! Tickets can be purchased online and in our mobile app, at the theatre’s box office, or at our partners’ theatre box offices.
