Holidays at the Mikhailovsky

During winter school holidays the Mikhailovsky Theatre offers a special repertoire. Christmas Holidays is a great gift for the audience of any age.

From 19 December to13 January theatre goers have a chance to see a series of operas and ballets, including two Romantic operas — Dvořák’s Rusalka and Tchaikovsky’s Iolanthe, a masterpiece of Italian opera — Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera, an opera for children — Asafiev’s Cinderella and the première of Kát’a Kabanová by the Czech composer Leoš Janáček. Lovers of classical choreography will enjoy La Sylphide — the love story of an airy nymph and a Scottish youth; nad our traditional New Year treat — The Nutcracker (staged this year by the Jacobson Ballet Theatre) will mean you enjoy the holiday to the full.
