Season's Greetings!

Dear Friends and Theatregoers,

Thank you for your continued support throughout 2015. All of us at the Mikhailovsky Theatre greatly appreciate your friendship and patronage. You energize us and inspire us to plan for the future. In the new year, we will be presenting several premières.

In February, Gaetano Donizetti’s Don Pasquale will continue our series of concert performances of great world operas. The well-known opera buffa will feature talented young singers from our company. In March, we will welcome the Russian première of a production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte by German theatre designer and director Pet Halmen. Eric Vigié, Director of the Opéra de Lausanne, will bring one of the most radiant and harmonious interpretations of the opera to our stage.

We will celebrate the anniversary of the founding of St. Petersburg with the première of the ballet "I Love You, Peter’s Great Creation...". American choreographer Lar Lubovitch, inspired by Alexander Pushkin’s poem The Bronze Horseman, will be using music by Reinhold Glière for the production, although it will be his Symphony No. 3 rather than the music from Glière’s own ballet of the same name.

We will continue our collaboration with the Hermitage. The opera Brundibár will be our first première at the Hermitage Theatre. The concert version of the opera will grace the stage on 27 January, which is the anniversary of the end of the Siege of Leningrad as well as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. On 9 May, the Mikhailovsky Theatre will present the stage version of the opera to mark Victory Day.
