“Eternal Spring…”

The next event in the Mikhailovsky Theatre’s Hermitage Evenings series will be a festive concert on 10 March entitled „Eternal Spring“. The programme for the evening will consist of popular Soviet songs performed by opera soloists.

The tradition of concerts featuring songs of this type in the Hermitage Theatre is very popular both with audiences and with our musicians. And now, when the sun is smiling upon the people of St. Petersburg more and more often, it feels like high time for a festival — a spring festival, a festival of love and simply a good mood. Maria Litke, Natalia Mironova, Irina Mikhailova, Marina Tregubovich, Fyodor Ataskevich, Dmitry Karpov, Alexander Kuznetsov and Boris Stepanov have a real treat in store for their audience: well-known and much-loved songs from times gone by.

„The title of the concert is a line from a David Tukhmanov song, which will be the last item on the programme. But, of course, the spring theme doesn’t end there: there will be lots of good songs with a lyrical feel,“ says concertmaster Natalya Dudik, who compiled the programme. „I don’t want to give away all our secrets beforehand and tell you everything we’ll be singing — let’s leave room for some pleasant surprises. What I will say is that it won’t just be opera singers performing in the concert: the Children’s Radio and Television Choir will also be taking part. Let me also add that it will be the men who take most of the strain on that evening; after all, spring is also the time when we celebrate International Women’s Day.“ The Mikhailovsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra will accompany the concert, with Igor Tomashevsky conducting.
