Days of Culture of Perm in St Petersburg

On 9, 10 and 12 November 2010 in the framework of the Days of Culture of Perm in St Petersburg the Mikhailovsky Theatre will host two leading music theatres of Perm.

The Perm Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre will present two productions of its Artistic Director, stage director Georgy Isaakian — Christus, the rare opera by Anton Rubinstein, and the opera A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Tchaikovsky based on the same-name short story by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. The production received the National Theatre Premium Golden Mask-2010 in the category “The Best Conductor in Opera” (Valery Platonov).

The Evgeny Panfilov Ballet will show the St Petersburg public two of the productions — CASTING-OFF choreographed by Larisa Alexandrova and Waltzes for the Dim-witted choreographed by Evgeny Panfilov. The company started in 1987 in Perm was the brainchild of Evgeny Panfilov known for his constructive philosophic ideas, experimental search and the exceptionally spectaculars choreographic language and became Russia’s first professional modern dance troupe.
