David Hallberg cancels September performances

David Hallberg’s performance in the ballet Swan Lake will not be taking place on 11 September as previously announced. The dancer has recently undergone surgery for a leg injury, and his recovery is expected to take several weeks. “It is with great regret that I have to step off the stage for this period of recovery”, wrote Hallberg, explaining the cancellation of all his performances. “But as an artist that relies on his body as his instrument, my main priority is to dance in full health and take the time needed to perform at that level again.” The Mikhailovsky Theatre wishes David Hallberg a full and speedy recovery. The new cast and format of the 11 September performance will be announced in the coming days.
