Ballet. High Season
The Mikhailovsky Theatre will introduce the coming season with a series of ballet performances featuring international stars.
The beginning of the next season at the Mikhailovsky Theatre will be devoted entirely to ballet. Some of the greatest ballets in the repertoire will be performed between 8 and 25 September, featuring the Mikhailovsky company’s most famous stars as well as guest performers. This period, which promises to be a feast for dance lovers, has been given the name “Ballet. High Seasone”. Ballerinas Natalia Osipova, Polina Semionova, Ekaterina Borchenko, Irina Perren and Angelina Vorontsova as well as Principal Dancers Ivan Vasiliev, Ivan Zaytsev, Victor Lebedev and Leonid Sarafanov are all set to take to the stage.
The 11 September performance of Swan Lake will act as the centrepiece, with Natalia Osipova on stage alongside David Hallberg, Principal Dancer at the Bolshoi Theatre. This will be the first joint appearance from these two exceptional talents of world ballet. The Mikhailovsky Theatre would like to thank the General Director of the Bolshoi Theatre, Vladimir Urin, for his active role in arranging David Hallberg’s repertory performance at the theatre.
Excitement levels are just as high for the Mikhailovsky debut of another outstanding dancer: Friedemann Vogel, Principal Dancer at the Stuttgart Ballet, will appear in Swan Lake on 10 September and in Giselle, ou Les Wilis on 14 September in a duet with Polina Semionova. The duet of Semionova and Vogel, who regularly dance together on the world’s greatest stages, is considered visually flawless.
