Angelina joined the Mikhailovsky Theatre company in 2013 as a young but already established ballerina, having previously studied and worked with some outstanding teachers for a number of years. She began her studies at the Voronezh State Choreography College, following which she was accepted by the Moscow State Academy of Choreography. In 2009 the talented graduate received offers from various Russian theatres. She chose the Bolshoi, where she rehearsed under the guidance of Nikolai Tsiskaridze, who became her first partner on that stage.

The young ballerina’s achievements have been recognized on several occasions: in 2006 she was awarded a grant by the Galina Ulanova Foundation, in 2007 she won first prize in the Crystal Slipper International Youth Competition in Kharkov, and in 2008 — first prize in the Arabesque International Competition in Perm. “Angelina has unique natural gifts”, says her teacher, People’s Artist of Russia Zhanna Ayupova. “A good professional school and physical training mean that she is able to perform principal roles in ballets from the classical and contemporary repertoires and cope with the technical difficulties of the choreography with ease.”

Angelina Vorontsova has a wide-ranging repertoire at the Mikhailovsky Theatre. Her best roles include Giselle, Aurora, Masha in The Nutcracker. Kitri, the Sylph, Juliet, Cinderella, and Lise in La Fille mal gardée. In October 2019 Vorontsova danced Nikiya in the première of La Bayadère, choreographed by Nacho Duato.

Angelina Vorontsova is known in Russia and internationally as a virtuoso ballerina who captivates audiences with her grace and beautiful lines.
